As an alternative to least cost, rations may also be formulated by hand. Values can be entered on a fresh or a dry matter basis, and the corresponding nutrient levels are displayed on the right hand side of the screen. Any nutrients which are outside their specification (such as ME and MP in the example), are highlighted.
